Subject: PFAS Specifics and Regulatory Requirements
Date: SEPTEMBER 18, 2024
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 PDT
Contact Hours: 2 Hours (0.2 CEUs)
As of June 2024, the potable water industry moved from having non-enforceable Health Advisories to enforceable MCLs for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances. As a result, potable water systems across the country are now required to abide by the new PFAS regulations which include these MCLs for certain PFAS constituents. This seminar reviews the history of PFAS, its uses, and current health concerns. We’ll delve into the timeline for compliance including initial sampling, treatment techniques and processes for removal, and requirements for routine monitoring. Discussion will be given to PFAS in wastewater and the concerns as well as the future for potential regulations. The goal of this seminar is to give guidance to systems on the requirements and options available to them to insure everyone is able to achieve compliance by the deadlines.
Speaker: Victoria Bellemin - OCT Instructor and Industry Consultant
Victoria has worked in chemical consulting for 13 years before transitioning into a full-time regulatory compliance consultant. Her years in the field enabled her to understand the challenges of compliance from an operations standpoint. As an instructor for the past 5 years, she strives to bring new regulatory requirements to small systems and provide guidance on the best and most cost-effective ways for systems to achieve and stay in compliance. She has sat through numerous hours of training at the local, state, and national level to insure she could provide accurate and up-to-date information to those she works with. She hails from Louisiana where she works with her two sisters at Tri-Environmental and specializes in Legionella monitoring and regulatory compliance.
